At Mount Holyoke, we recognize that our students are working to juggle obligations other than just school work. As such, some of you may choose to seek Commuter Student status. Being a commuter student gives you the opportunity to earn a college degree without sacrificing other responsibilities. While MHC is a residential community, we hope that the decision to live off campus still allows our students to stay connected, engaged, and as always, an active part of our great community.
Further, with Commuter Student status comes unique opportunities and resources to meet specific needs. Of course the entire campus community is open to all, and we hope that commuting students will continue to eat on campus, lounge in the residence halls and participate in the many social activities, but the Commuter Student Lounge is designed with commuting students in mind.
Commuter Student Lounge
Blanchard 333 is a lounge space specifically set aside for Commuter Students. With access to lockers, computers (with scanning and printing), a small kitchen with refrigerator, sink and microwave; we want you to feel forever at home. While OneCard access to Residence Halls is restricted for non-residents from 2am-7am, the lounge is available whenever Blanchard is open! The space is managed in conjunction with the Office of Student Programs. For more information, contact Hannah Trost, Assistant Director of Student Programs and Advisor.
Commuter Student Parking
While you are strongly encouraged to use the free PVTA Bus service, Commuter Student parking is also available through the Parking Office for a fee of $75. Once registered, you may park on a first-come first-served basis only in the Gorse and Dunlap lots. Vehicles with Commuter student decals may also park Monday through Friday between 5 PM and Midnight in the Bridgeman Lane Lot. If necessary, you may park overnight and on weekends in the Gorse lot on an occasional basis, however if you must park overnight on a regular basis you should purchase a resident student decal.
Those seeking Commuter Student status should contact Melanie Lawson, Associate Director of Residence Life.
Applications for Off-Campus Housing can be found on the Residence Life Page.
